0.3.4b - and sad news everyone...

Hello guys, Tjord here with new version of Dark Lord Rises. As promised, this is bugfixing update, and since recent release had surprisingly little gamebreaking bugs, this is only minor update. Or it should be...

Unfortunately, after much thought I decided to put the game development on hiatus. Yes, one of those hiatuses that are highly likely to last indefinitely.

 "Why Tjord, why would you do this?! You're tearing me apart, Tjord!" I hear you saying already.

Well, reason is simple: I kind lost my drive when it comes to developing the game. While I'm decently satisfied with the story, limitations of RPG Maker continue to frustrate me and limit enjoyment I get from my work. Other thing, erotic side of the game, instead of being integral part of my vision, kinda became an unwanted side and a chore to write/set up.

For all those years I've been tempted to set aside this project and start something new, but I've fought those notions. But not this time. I've decided to start something new, something better thought off than TDLR (which was, let's be honest, my first, amateurish attempt to make a game).

To sweeten the deal for you, I'm making what I think is unprecedented move: 0.3.4b is UNENCRYPTED version of the game. Yes, you read this right! Those of you, who want to and have RPG Maker VX Ace can continue the story or make changes you want (like, fixing typos :D). I don't mind if you use those few of my assets for your games or whatever.

Just, please don't go posting skeleton of the game and claiming it's your own. I'd be quite sad to see that.

0.3.4 - Sayonara Ugovarti!

Hello everyone, I have a nice gift for you - new update for The Dark Lord Rises! I've managed to muster some motivation and finish this one before November, thank god.

Anyway, without further ado, here are download links:

As usual, next version will focus on fixing bugs and typos - and should come in week or two.

Now, those last four months have been mired with problems, most important being crash I had around early September, which nearly cost me all the progress I made by then (around 70% of update). I managed to recover most of maps, but lost of my notes and labels (try to reconstruct game with 150 unlabeled switches, ugh!). This is main reason why I decided to end act three earlier then I had planned, as creating new content started resembling swimming in jelly - and why you might spot some inconsistencies. Hopefully, I'll get it all ironed out in 0.3.4b.

Progress report!

So!, three months has passed since last update and I'd like to give you guys quick update on how things are progressing with next update. And there lot to update!

First thing, next update will be a big one - basically, entire second part of Act 3, meaning at the end, we will finally leave Ugovarti! I put some work on fighting encounters, so they are more fun and tactical - they play major part in climax of the story. I'm also trying to put in some additional H-scenes, since right now I have only three, kinda low number for such large update.

Right now, I think I have 80% of the planned content already implemented, but none tested. If I had to estimate, I'd guess 0.3.4 will come around late October/early November. Fortunately, my situation has steadily improved and while I still cannot put as much time as I want into this project, I am making steady progress - and that's what matters the most.

Bugfix Build - 0.3.3b

Some of you complained about annoying bug that prevented from continuing the game after visit to labieynth in Ugovarti.

HERE you can find bugfixed version. I also corrected one quest that could show incorrectly as well as exterminated some annoying typos (yet thousands remain :))

0.3.3 - yes, this is not a drill!

Hello, everyone! Forgot about me? Well, no blaming you - I was certainly unable to keep up with my previous tempo. But I promised there will be an update, and here it is - version 0.3.3 of Dark Lord Rises. So what's in?

Well.. I'm ashamed to admit, but not much, unfortunately. I know that after long wait I owe you guys something longer, but I was unable to find enough time to deliver something more... and it seems next month will be even tougher. So I decided to finish what i had and give you now, before TDLR disappears from your memory completely :)

I also changed the thing I hard most complains about, that is scrolling text during H-scenes. This goes along with another (sigh...) revolution in, erm... graphics? I'm just too bent on this game having some fake titties to look at... anyway, my ugly drawings were replaced with caps from 3D game, Honey Select. I have no doubt those will be much more aesthetically pleasing than my pathetic attempts to draw something humanlike.

Game should be save-compatible, if you have saved state from previous versions.

So, what is going on...

Hello guys, long time no see.

I'll be honest with you, because of various circumstances I thought of the game as a closed chapter in my life. Yet, in last two months I recieved so many e-mails from you I understood this little project of mine grew into something bigger than I expected. Therefore, let me give you explaination on why there weren't any updates since August and what might happen in the future.

A) In september my HDD crashed and I lost a bit of my progress.  This wasn't actually that big of a deal since I made sure to make regular backups, it certainly didn't help with my motivation.

B) My situation in real life is hmm... not very good. Because of many problems (including health issues) I do not have time and resources to spare for the game. This includes...

C) Late november, my main PC, the one which was used to make The Dark Lord Rises finally gave up. I need new GPU, HDD and Power Supply to make it work again.

Therefore, until I deal with those problems, there is no chance for another release. However, I loathe leaving the game in such half-broken state as it is as of 0.3.1c, so I promise to you, I'll at least try to carry this chapter of a story to finish. I hope you can be patient with me.
