Hello guys, I have a little surprise for you - 0.3.1 version of The Dark Lord Rises!
This release is unique in many ways. I put a lot of work into it, yet it doesn't advance storyline as much as previous major updates. In fact, it covers less than a third of what I have planned for a third arc (around 1-2h of gameplay) So, why am I releasing it?
Several factors came to play here. First of all, as I mentioned in my previous post, I've replaced massive amounts of resources from the game, ones that were blatant copyright/terms-of-use violations. I've added several new scripts, some of them which affect gameplay in first two storyarcs. (Most notable example is quest log, which I deemed necessary considering structure of new arc.)
I've reviewed skills and character classes, adding several new states and new skill category for warrior-like characters. I also had to redo many events from first part of the game, since I didn't really understand RPG Maker rules back when I was writing them (which could cause some hilarious result if player was unlucky)
Now, all of those changes required extensive testing and to be frank, I'm a bit tired of replaying the game over and over, and have less and less time to do it. That's why I decided to release the game as it is. You can consider it a beta of some sort - I'm sure many of you will encounter various hidden bugs that somehow eluded me during your gameplays. As usual, bugfixing update should come in a week or two.
Last thing to note: if you have save from the end of 0.2.9/0.3.0 (during the mirror sequence), you'll be fine in 0.3.1, but saves from other parts of the game might be broken in some way.

Also, please note the poll I added to the sidebar, since I have no preference in this matter and all results fits what I have envisioned, this is a good chance for you to shape the story to your liking - I'll certainly take the results to the heart when writing for 0.3.3.
Oh right, 0.3.3. I understand that this release end in pretty awkward moment, but unfortunately, next major release definitely will take more time, since my vacations are nearing the end. Sad reality :(
Love the game so far Finding it currently crashes after the dream with the archmage and knight as result of `unable to find file Audio/BGM/Shihouka_Piano_' also talking to the man in the bottem left corner during the 'party dance' causes it to crash because it can't find his portrait.

Delete- the game crashes during the party when Renan tryes to to talk to the man in the bottom left (some error message about a portrait)
- the game crashes during the dream, just after Renan get rid of the useless archmage (same error message already mentionned by Estabane)
For the missing audio file, I found an easy fix : get the file from the previous build, and put it in the Audio/BGM/ folder of the current version.
DeleteI stumbled on two problems in the magecorps office near the cathedral in Kurshov :
- once you have been tested, the guard blocking the way to the left office moves to the left, then down. If you keep interacting with him, he keeps doing the same move (left, then down) till he's cornered in the bottom left of the room, making the game freeze.
- in the same room, if you speak a second time to the guy behind his desk, the game crashes (sorry, I didn't wrote down the error message, and I accidentally overwrote the savegame, so I can't reproduce it a third time... My bad ! )
For the magecorps crash when talking to the guy twice it says "Unable to find file Graphics/Faces/(shit ton of numbers and letters"

Deletealright i have to say there are still spelling mistakes for the first part to the undead i think you should look over. Next was the dual mimirs fight, was too hard on normal even for me i played 4 times full health almost full mana. bald, chole and tavn none kept them at bay just ended really bad.
ReplyDeleteOne thing you should add is more money drop or drop the prices to half. another idea is add a few more chest with better or unique equipment i really love the game! but i just cant seem to have enough mana love the new skill as well but manby give the main guy a absorab ability as you walk to slowly take in mana to use less potion or such.... really need more money!
can anyone get me the Audio/BGM/Shihouka_Piano_ file to me? i dont have a older version anymore to get it from

ReplyDeletewhats up with the ending we started as a guy and lived as a guy and now we accept being a girl!!!!!! first of you seem to being good guy and then our friends betray you at the ice queen understandable but we have this magic to control and we can even use it feel i like lost that shot.
seconed the ending to 0.3.1 i have no words to say what the hell!! the biggest shock of all you want the man guy to be a girl!!! just to point out we were born a guy!!! and now your making it like its better to be a girl with a longer school life heck he could had a good school life if it wasn't for the white queen he would have been listed in to the military and then be found with the "taint"
all the bitches we could have had and you want to give it up for a life of normal school you chose slytherin to most evil wizards and mages end up and what about wanting your revenge!!! you going to let it go with the shlong!! i say nay I want revenge !!! beside they say the evil wan but its how the player decides to be evil or good ...........................................................ARE you really going to keep us as a girl?
sorry for the rant i really like the game i just hate the ending so far it just seems hes giving up here or she is giving up now.

DeleteAs for the ending, please keep in mind that current version ends in the middle of the story-arc. As for the gender-bending, you might be interesting in a poll on the right :)
i Am deeply sorry if i cam across as demanding or have angered you on your decision on rennan it was just that big of a surprise! oh two or three things you may want to look in to

2a the dear one eye lady is a great warrior and was a good companion i was happy to have had a great warrior as our companion could she not be dead? is just three routes that you could if you take up this idea
1b necromancy her into a half living shell and help her get her soul back Half of her is inside your mind world the other is taken by death or ice lord or after giving her back life power her power is cut in half *level and stats are cute in half minus health just less*
2b have one eye retreat to the ice queen as a notifier that her base has fallen under attack? to insure the safety of the ice lord.
3b she fights the wolf spawn and is rendered unconscious an after the attack sees rennan gone and searches to retrieve him and bring him back to his cell dedicated to the words!*just to sever you again bad or good deep, I have love for those bitches that know how to use a sword!!!!!*
3a we have a person who is a Real demon!! through transformation of course but in his mind you fit the a few of the quality's to be the evil one WHAT if he slowly chances you to better fit them?

Well, i played the game all again because i can't hate it it's so fun to play again. Well, i found no bugs at all the gameplay was smooth, i really like the endings of every version i makes me hope you hurry to release the next one, but well thats is it for my reply. Continue the great work because the game is turning to be awesome~
ReplyDeletelies there are wall bugs! where you can walk in the walls even a poor rabbit is unattainable in the forest like the manor libary. another was the party you can walk past the ruble to the left and no notice if you've been poisoned like in pokemon and the spelling need a good look over there are mistakes in the love! and a few dialogs after get remilla PS creator if i was good at drawing i would love to give you my pics i read our love it and i see it form but sadly i only hold a hand to story telling many about good manga or could be anime but atlas none for drawing your well devised pics But take one problem at a time and use us if need a rises to fine the bugs like the god statues can be visited multiple times with multiple buffs
